Two more years later, after Exit Watches 2.0 which followed my original Exit Watches, here is yet another edition.

Imagine myself in a parallel universe, where I just started collecting watches but already knew what I truly love and happened to have $1.5m spending budget.

This is what I would simply end up with: one independent, two Patek and two Rolex watches.

Patek Philippe 5004

The 5004 is my favorite modern Patek reference. I would like to own at least two 5004s such as pictured above: a 5004P with black dial and a 5004G with silver dial. Not only do they complement each other, but they also fit with the other three watches in the following — all in white-colored metal.

That said, I am also thinking… maybe to substitute a 5004R for the 5004G. While the 5004G is cool and understatedly rare, the warmth and romance brought by a silver dial 5004R would be a nice touch to this minimal collection.

If I were not tight on the money, no doubt I would go with Rolex 6200 King Sub and 6538 Explorer dial red depth, as shown in Exit Watches 2.0. But just those two Big Crowns would probably blow up the entire $1.5m budget. So instead, here I pick other two super cool and also more wearable Subs with Explorer dial: a 5513 PCG with Exp gilt underline and double T<25, and a 5512 PCG with Exp chapter ring and exclamation point.

Easy pick of an independent watch, my grail for many years: Simplicity 37mm in white gold with guilloche dial.
